ISSUKI

Dear friends of Modern Dance in Sri Lanka,
I would like to invite you to ISSUKI, the new performance of nATANDA Dance Theatre of Sri Lanka at "Barefoot" on Thursday 14th of August 2008 at 8 pm.

 

In this 85 min performance you will see a bright variety of Sri Lankan and western dance styles.

 

  

 

This time we focus on dance theatre, but there will be many dance acts inspired by jazz, modern ballet, contemporary dance, as well as Sri Lankan tradition as first half. It will be 20 minutes. Then the second half will be starting, in this section we focus on the theme of jealousy.

More about ISSUKI:

This production has to be introduced on a high inter-cultural process in the context of the present Modern dance development. Building of united cultural practices, multi cultural bonding and interaction between different arts group coexistences to seeks to encourage bridge-building and cross community efforts with the goal of living and respectfully with people.

 

This jealousy would initiate a cultural dialog between people and artist and this would be a historical occasion to find out a modern dance form of cultural discoveries between three different arts through the traditional kandyan dance classical ballet and Sri Lankan Martial Arts (Angampora).

  
This project provide knowledge and indicated areas for research in developing Sri Lankan dance theatre Tradition.
